Advanced Braided Harness Solutions for Mining, Industrial & Heavy Equipment Applications

Tefol designs, braids and re‑engineers wiring harnesses for mining, heavy automotive and industrial applications - built to withstand heat, abrasion, vibration and harsh environments. Our in‑house teams across Rutherford, Muswellbrook and Mackay deliver custom braided harness assemblies, extending service life and reducing operational downtime. Unlike convoluted tubing, which allows wire movement, heat build‑up and particulate ingress, our braided solutions - including durable PVC‑coated nylon options - provide tighter wire loading, improved heat dissipation and greater mechanical protection for demanding environments.

Following the Tefol Group's acquisition of IBC Wiring Harness Solutions, our branches across the East Coast are able to deliver fully integrated harness capability - from the design and material selection, through to braiding, manufacture and re-engineering where required. 


Our client base can now benefit from expanded materials expertise, advanced braiding options (including Aramid fibre yarn), improved responsiveness and higher reliability for site-critical harness systems. 

WHY BRAIDED HARNESSING OUTPERFORMS CONVULUTED TUBING

Braiding provides superior mechanical, thermal and contamination resistance compared to convuluted tubing - making it the preferred solution for mining, heavy off-road, fire system and industrial applications where vibration and heat accelerate conduit failure.

BRAIDING MATERIALS MATCHED TO OPERATING CONDITIONS

Aramid Fibre Braid


  • 200–250 °C continuous temperature, up to 500 °C short‑term without melting 
  • Self‑extinguishing (LOI 28–30) for fire‑safe applications 
  • High tensile strength (3,000–3,620 MPa) and excellent abrasion resistance 
  • Ideal for fire suppression harnesses, mining plant and high‑risk zones.

PVC‑Coated Nylon Braid


  • –54 °C to 138 °C service envelope (UL‑1581)
  • UL‑94 V0 flame retardant, UV‑resistant
  • Ideal for automotive, heavy equipment and general OEM harnessing.

HEAT‑RATED CABLING & COMPONENTS

High‑Temperature Cabling & Genuine Components


  • We supply and integrate GXL‑rated wiring (–40 °C to 125 °C) engineered for harsh automotive and industrial environments, compliant with SAE J‑1128. 
  • All assemblies are produced in‑house with genuine connector systems, strain relief, labelling and quality documentation.

CUSTOM BUILDS & RE-ENGINEERING

Custom Braided Harnesses & Re‑engineering Services

Tefol builds, upgrades and re‑engineers wiring harnesses to improve durability, thermal resistance and serviceability. With in‑house braiding, design and testing capability, we can:

MATERIAL SELECTION GUIDE

Choosing the Right Braid


Use Aramid when:

  • Exposure to >150 °C
  • Fire suppression or safety‑critical systems
  • High vibration / abrasion
  • Long service‑life expectations


Use PVC‑coated nylon when:

  • General harness protection is required
  • Cost‑effectiveness is important
  • Engine bay, automotive or non‑fire system environments
